Shannon Yamamoto is our newest apprentice teacher and operations manager at Upside-Down Pilates. She started her movement training at an early age, and has studied and performed with the Honolulu Dance Theatre, Queen Emma Ballet, Mid-Pacific School of the Arts, University of Hawaii at Manoa, Convergence Dance Theater, and Upside Down Dance and Pilates. Shannon met master teacher trainer Lisa Orig while studying at the University of Hawaii and worked with her on various dance projects including Lisa’s master’s thesis “Posture Lab.”
Shannon is enrolled in the USDP teacher training program and is excited to begin her journey as an Upside-Down Pilates teacher. Since beginning her studies with Upside-Down Pilates, Shannon has discovered a whole new definition to the word strength. After decades of dance and physical training, it has been within this last year where she has begun to understand how to truly utilize her body and how to apply it to her art. Shannon is very excited to continue on her journey and finish her certification.
Shannon has been honored to be able to teach while still in practice for her certification. She likes clients who are just as eager to gain knowledge about their bodies and hopes her experiences and trials are able to help people with their own journeys.
