Building the foundation!
It’s funny to me how many people wait until the beginning of a new year to start an exercise program. We think that this year will be different. I get tons of calls and emails from people wanting to get in shape at the top of January. The best way to ensure success for the new year is building a new foundation and being open to change. The more new students are ready for change, the greater success they have!
All new students must start by building a new foundation. I see so many people going to the traditional gym or doing the latest fad wanting to loose weight and have cut abs. Unfortunately, most of them either give up by mid-February or hurt themselves doing their new exercise routine.
When building a house there is no point of having lush carpet, marble counter tops, and luxurious drapes if the foundation is cracked, the frame is termite ridden, and the roof has gaping holes in it! It is the same in our bodies. What is the point of having 6 pack abs, bustling biceps, and buns of steel, if our transversus abdominus and multifidus are not firing leaving us with back pain, our rotator cuff and serratus anterior are not coordinated leaving us with shoulder impingement, and our gluteus medius is asleep leaving us with hip and leg pain? So let’s be smart about how you choose to start a new exercise program. Learn how to move from the inside out in a safe, efficient, and effective manor. Then you will see the lasting results from deep within. I hope to see you in the studio for 2014.
Happy New Year!
